Constructed on land that once housed the Atlanta City Hall and Fulton County Courthouse from 1854 to 1884, the expansive five-acre grounds were generously gifted by the City of Atlanta for the express purpose of erecting the capitol building. Serving as the epicenter of Georgia's governance since 1889, this esteemed structure remains at the heart of the state's legislative and policy-making endeavors.
